Design-Build Process

Our design-build process provides cost-effective and timely building solutions to companies nationwide.

Through Cambridge’s design-build solutions for solid waste and trucking companies, our clients benefit from the services provided by our project team. From the start, our team is readily available to answer questions and to work closely.

9

1. Feasibility and Scoping

During the feasibility and scoping phase, the Cambridge team, reviews the current state of your project and generates a project mission statement, solutions, budgets and schedules. The ideas and concepts are then accepted and signed off on prior to beginning any design work.

9

2. Design and Permitting

Based upon agreed deadlines, our Design Project Managers begin working on drawings that meet the needs of each facility. Bid and Permit plans are completed first, followed by construction layouts. We also handle procurement of any necessary state, town, or city permits during construction.

9

3. Procurement

Once the designs are approved, and permits have been acquired, our estimating team begins to bid out the job to local subcontractors. Cambridge supplies four (4) bids per trade with any necessary suggestions, to help reduce change orders during construction and the owner can choose the subcontractors they would like to hire.

9

4. Construction

After all permits are secured and subcontractors chosen, construction starts. The key items of focus throughout construction at the job site include safety, quality, ample communication with all parties, keeping the project under budget and on-time, and ensuring the owner is satisfied with the end product.

9

5. Close-Out

The Close Out Phase involves supplying owners with a short punch-list with any necessary plans to complete them as seen fit, as-built drawings, a warranty book delivered to customers, and completing a project recap report summarizing the estimated budget, timeframe to the actual.

9

6. Follow Up

Six (6) months after construction has been completed, our team will follow up to discuss the end product. Our team also completes two (2)  facility walk-throughs post-construction.

Testimonials

“Please accept my appreciation for the outstanding performance of your entire team on the recent Lorain MRF expansion and the new LaFeria transfer station. The construction team has been outstanding on both projects. They proved to be experts in their fields. Their coordination and management of the subcontractors was excellent. When problems arose, they positively ensured the problems were quickly, and effectively resolved. Throughout the project the Cambridge staff was always available, they were always positive, and they were always considerate of our needs. We anticipate occupying our facility on time and are on track to be under budget on both projects.”
Construction Procurement Manager

“As is common with projects of this scale, there were unexpected challenges. It was encouraging to work with the Cambridge team to address those challenges. The Cambridge team did an excellent job of listening to our interests, evaluating and communicating alternatives, and then taking action to implement the agreed upon actions. To our great satisfaction many of those elements were able to be implemented without adjustments to the project budget or schedule.”
Public Works Director

“…Throughout construction, and in ensuring completion, Cambridge took ownership of every step of the project. Cambridge kept the whole team engaged and followed through with project calls weekly, or as necessary, to keep things moving and on task. If an issue arose, Cambridge was quick to identify it, come up with various courses of action, and work with the local team for ultimate resolution.”
