Project Engineer

Position Summary: The Project Engineer performs duties to schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all the technical activities for commercial construction projects. This role cooperates and communicates effectively with the Pre-Construction, Design, and Construction Departments. The Project Engineer ensures quality work that is consistent with the standards set forth in each project’s contract documents and for performing the work in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Project Engineer Position Details

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Field Manger in the coordination of subcontractors.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor subcontractor assigned projects.
  • Produce project schedules.
  • Monitor compliance to applicable codes, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Review and determine suitability of shop drawings and submittals.
  • Assist with building permits and inspections.
  • Participate in weekly progress/coordination meetings.
  • Assist and support the project team with daily project coordination.
  • Assist with the project buy-out process.
  • Manage the procurement schedule for the project.
  • Assist in bidding and award activities, writing subcontracts, and project financial management.
  • Conduct project estimates and quantity takeoffs.
  • Prepare and price contract changes and additions to contractual agreements.
  • Coordinate material procurement and delivery.
  • Manage weekly pictures for progress reports.
  • Manage document controls (RFIs, submittals, change orders, claims, etc.).
  • Track owner and subcontractor change orders, and RFIs.
  • Manage flow of technical information: project drawings, specifications, addendums, bulletins, etc.
  • Collect, verify, and distribute as-built drawings.
  • Maintain project close-out documents.
  • Maintain various information logs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or the equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of project engineer experience in the commercial construction industry.
  • Construction software utilization is preferred (examples: Procore, Sage CPC, MS Project).
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with Bluebeam and Revit.
  • 30% travel required.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Project Coordinator

Position Summary:
The Project Coordinator performs functions to accomplish Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable responsibilities along with job costing, budgeting, and forecasting for assigned project work. This role works closely with the Construction Department to ensure accuracy and on-time deliverables.

Project Coordinator Position Details

Position Responsibilities:

  • Enter and maintain vendor information in accounting and construction software modules.
  • Create and submit monthly AIA billings to our clients in collaboration with Project Managers.
  • Coordinate with the Construction Department to set up a venue for project kick-off meetings.
  • Create the project kick-off booklet and agenda for subcontractors.
  • Attend the project kick-off meetings.
  • Coordinate and transmit all subcontract, purchase order, and change order agreements.
  • Maintain records of all project agreements and confirm the return of executed agreements.
  • Maintain compliance records for all subcontractors, including agreements, insurance, and other contractual requirements.
  • Collect and process project specific invoices from vendors and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with the Construction Department to review and approve all project specific invoices.
  • Prepare and issue payout notices when the project’s monthly draw is funded by the project owner.
  • Assist Controller with accounts payable entries in accounting system.
  • Attend weekly internal meetings for assigned projects.
  • Participate in recurring project and department meetings.
  • Collect, review, and approve all waivers of lien prior to releasing payment.
  • Collect final retention invoices, final waivers of lien, and any other accounting related documents at project close-out and prior to releasing final payments to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in the commercial construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Experience with progress billings (G702/G703).
  • Working knowledge of the complete project cycle.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Sage 300 CRE/Timberline experience is preferred.

Position Summary: The Field Manager performs functions to control the field activities and the subcontractors to deliver the project on time, on budget, and per the plans and specifications, while maintaining an intense focus on safety. This role collaborates with the Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, and Project Coordinator to ensure each project runs smoothly.

Field Manager Position Details

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor the work and progress of subcontractors to ensure contract compliance, quality, and adherence to the project schedule.
  • Oversee job site safety & compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Manage new site visitor safety training for subcontractors.
  • Maintain records of subcontractors’ toolbox talks.
  • Provide and work with an effective 6-week look ahead schedule, weekly.
  • Update owner’s schedule bi-weekly.
  • Plan and run the weekly foreman meetings, collaborating between the office and the subcontractors.
  • Liaison between the project owner, the office, the subcontractors, material suppliers, and inspectors.
  • Complete daily field reports for each day of work on the project, taking regular job photos.
  • Review, verify, stamp, and log time and material labor tickets.
  • Initiate chargebacks as appropriate.
  • Update As-Built drawings in red as variances occur and notify the office.
  • Direct close out and punch list activities as necessary to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • Log lessons learned as they occur during the construction of the project.
  • Oversee site conditions to maintain general organization and cleanliness for the project.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience in traveling superintendent role in commercial and/or industrial construction.
  • Degree in engineering or construction management preferred.
  • Experience managing work crews, equipment utilization, material purchases, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contracts, scope of work, drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • 100% travel as required by project, ability to go home once per month when traveling.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience utilizing construction management software; Procore is preferred.
  • PEMB, Waste industry and design-build experience is preferred.
