Cambridge completed construction of the Germann Road Transfer Station in Chandler, AZ.
The new transfer station can process more than 420 tons of waste per day to serve Apache Junction, Gilbert Mesa, Phoenix, Pinal County, Queen Creek, and Tempe communities in Arizona.
Construction for the Germann Road Transfer Station began in March 2014.
The goal for this facility has been to create a central location for collection trucks, decreasing the carbon emissions of transporting trash great distances to other disposal facilities. Diesel fuel consumption for approximately 4,000 collection trucks is expected to be reduced by 120,000 gallons in 2015.
In addition, Republic Services representatives have provided EPA carbon emissions reduction information, stating the carbon emission reduction is equivalent to preserving more than 870 acres of U.S. forest land or introducing nearly 28,000 mature trees into the local environment annually. Cambridge Companies has worked with Republic Services to build waste management facilities for over 20 years.
